Meet Sean Misa, Commercial Food & Beverage Photographer

Sean Misa is a commercial food and beverage photographer and tabletop director based near Seattle. He's Filipino-American, and his path here wasn't a straight line: nearly a decade in graphic design, a stretch shooting wedding videos, and a pandemic hobby that turned into a full career.

From Graphic Design to Commercial Food Photography

Sean spent over 9 years working in graphic design across several fields. When he and his wife moved to Chicago, he quit his job to pursue wedding videography full time. He loved capturing special moments and telling those stories through video.

Then COVID hit, and everyone was stuck at home. Sean joined a photography forum, and one month's challenge happened to be food photography. He tried it, and fell in love with it. Wedding videography slowly took a back seat, and food photography took over completely. He's been doing it ever since, and still loves the variety: different clients, different foods, always something new to try.

He holds a Multimedia Design and Production degree from Lake Washington Institute of Technology, which, paired with his graphic design background, means he brings more than a camera to a shoot. He understands packaging, layout, and brand systems from the inside.
